TRENDING TO PEACE

December 19, 2022

It’s hard to believe that 2022 is almost at a close. We have so much to look forward to in 2023. As a society, we have survived another challenging year and it’s time we had a little serenity. Interior Design trends are taking their cues from these challenges and helping us all recenter ourselves and find space to recapture joy.

We are all seeking solitude, places to rewind and reset. A zen home encourages us to find our peace and tranquility. A place of safety. Design trends this year will focus on restful interiors but with bold hues and eco-minded materials to not only help ourselves but our planet.

Eco-Conscious Nests

What do you think of when you hear the word harmony? Harmony means an arrangement of ideas, feelings or actions, or a pleasing combination of different parts. Design your home in harmony with nature to get that deep cleansing breath feeling we all crave. Natural woods, organic textures, and no synthetic materials are the goal for this aesthetic.

“With so much happening in the world today- often uncertain and stressful- I predict we’re going to see a shift towards balance, calm and simplicity in terms of home design,” says Kathy Kuo, interior designer and founder of Kathy Kuo Home.

Holistic Design

Holistic can mean the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the symptoms of an illness. We should also treat our homes holistically. The mind and body connection matters. There’s a reason you feel lighter after you’ve decluttered your home of extra physical matter. You mind takes in more than you know. Design your home to feed your mind and soul.

“People are going to think more about how the interior design of a house makes them feel and , from there, dive into how design can make them happier, healthier and more productive in their space,” says interior designer Leslie Banker of Leslie Banker & Co.

Mood Creating Hues

Benjamin Moore’s 2023 color of the year pick is Raspberry Blush. It is a deep, bold, mood evoking burgundy with undertones of pink. This alone should give you all the feels. Deep colors give mood. Like a dark, cozy library where you can snuggle in and stay for a while.

Buy the Right Size

The housing market is an ever-changing beast. We have all spent exponentially more time at home and you may be realizing your home doesn’t ‘fit’ you and your family. Remedy that! Maybe your kids have gone to college, maybe you have a new baby, maybe the proximity to your aging parents needs to change. Finding the home that suits your current needs in 2023 will help you live a fuller and better life.

Staycation

And as we continue to enjoy our time at home, why not create spaces that have a vacation-like feel? You may be one of the lucky ones who have been treated to a recent vacation. More and more people are wanting to bring that feeling back home.

Expect a turn away from the white and monochromatic “for a scheme that evokes wanderlust and a sense of escape,” says Scott Sanders of Scott Sanders LLC.

Don’t know how to achieve these looks, let us help you create the space you dream of.

Stylishly Yours,

The Chelsee Sowder Design Team
