Can you even read that title without beginning to sing the rest of the song? If you can’t, I highly recommend you copy and paste the YouTube link above and get yourself a few seconds of feel good.

The first lyrics are…. “I’d like to buy the world a home and furnish it with love!” Isn’t that a grand statement?!? A home filled with love is my wish for each of you this holiday season.

There are so many ways to incorporate love and warmth and memories and joy into your holiday decor. Let’s chat a bit about how you can bring some of those feelings into your home this holiday.

Incorporating family memories is a sure way to get all the feels. Homemade ornaments, hand stitched stockings, or maybe it’s the favorite cookies your grandma always bakes… these home spun memories bring warmth straight to the heart.

And while you’re hanging those stockings by the chimney with care, don’t forget to honor your home and its style. The best way to make your architecture shine is to design your decor to match the style of your home. Is your home classic, modern or farmhouse architecture? Then make your holiday decor cohesive with that style. It will make your displays even more spectacular. But if big flashy decorations aren’t your thing, don’t be afraid to be minimalist! Simple greenery cuttings from your yard can bring warmth to the home. Add the cuttings into your bookcase or make a simple garland to adorn a stair railing.

Are you in a red and green rut? Get out of that comfort zone! If your home is designed in a soothing monotone variety of colors (shades of whites and beige or variations of grey) go with that! A tree decorated in all white can be stunning! Or why not try shades of blue? From transparent, icy blue to deep, rich navy, this combination can produce a richness in your decor that you may haven’t thought of.

Now, decorate the unexpected! Your china hutch works hard all year to keep your treasures safe. Give it some pizzaz this season and back light it with a strand of twinkle lights, add some of those greenery cuttings or incorporate your favorite ornaments among the dishes. Carry your holiday spirit into every room of the house. How many trees do you put up? I know a few folks who even have a small tree in their bathroom! Get quirky! Have fun! We all deserve to live it up a little and smile more!

Let your five senses take you to new places this holiday. Feel the warmth from the fireplace seep onto your toes. See the lights wink at you from the tree. Smell the cookies baking. Taste each marshmallow in your hot cocoa. Hear the laughter in your family as they share in your time-honored traditions.

And… let your heart learn to sing in perfect harmony with your holiday home!

Stylishly yours,
